Cllr Bernard Gentry Elected Chairman of Welsh Conservative Party
At a packed Welsh AGM held on Saturday 9th November 2024 in Llandrindod Wells North Wales Area Chairman Bernard Gentry was elected Chairman of the Welsh Conservative Party. Bernard is the first person from North Wales to hold this position for a couple of decades and acknowledged that it was recognition for the progress the party has made cross North Wales in recent years. A shared triumph.
Bernard's decisive election victory was matched by Abigail Mainon as Deputy Chairman Membership and Cllr Lyndon Jones as Deputy Chairman Political. Former Chairman Glyn Davies continues as President.
Addressing the Welsh Party Bernard thanked those who supported him and confirmed that he would be a full time Chairman giving up work and that the priority was rebuilding the Party here in Wales in order to gain additional Welsh Parliament Seats in 2026.
Following press speculation Bernard made clear that the Conservative Party was fully committed to devolution and the Senedd and that the way to improve the Welsh Government was to replace Labour and their Plaid friends with a Conservative administration in 2026.
"In the coming weeks leading up to Christmas I will be out and about attending campaigning and social events and meeting as many members as possible" said Bernard
