In our UK Internal Market Bill we will see a power surge to the devolved nations and introduce limited and reasonable steps to create a safety net that ensures that the Government is always able to deliver on its commitments to the people of Northern Ireland.
• These steps will make sure that: Northern Ireland truly remains in the UK’s customs territory; NI businesses continue to enjoy unfettered access to the rest of the UK and; EU law doesn’t stop other elements of essential Government business.
• These steps are fully in keeping with what we have constantly said and what we promised in our manifesto. We will continue to work with the EU as we implement the protocol.
• At all stages we must – as a responsible Government – ensure that we have the ability to uphold our commitments to the people of Northern Ireland.
