This weekend, the Government took the swift and decisive action necessary to contain the virus and protect public health by removing Spain from the travel corridors exemption list.
• On Saturday, the Government announced that people returning to the UK from Spain (including the islands) from midnight on 25 July 2020 will need to self-isolate for two weeks, and we are also advising against all but essential travel to mainland Spain, as the country has been removed from the travel corridors list – ensuring we can prevent the spread of new coronavirus cases from abroad.
• We know that this will be very difficult for people, but protecting public health is our absolute priority and we have taken this decision to limit any potential spread to the UK. We have always been clear that we would act immediately to remove a country where necessary.
• Protecting public health is our absolute priority, and this decisive action will limit any potential spread to the UK and ensure the hard work and sacrifices of the British people over recent months are not undone.
