Police and crime commissioners (PCCs) will receive a share of £25 million to crack down on burglary and theft in crime hotspots as we continue to make communities safer.
• Persistent street crime can cause fear and misery in the communities it hits, making people apprehensive about leaving their homes and afraid of what they might encounter when they return.
• We are supporting the police to prevent crime from happening in the first place. New funding will go towards proven crime cutting measures, such as increased street lighting, CCTV and locked gates around alleyways. It will also be used to empower communities with Neighbourhood watch schemes.
• We are making neighbourhoods harder places for criminals to operate, providing communities with the support and reassurance they deserve.
