Call to ease Welsh travel restrictions as petition passes 10,000 signatures
Welsh Conservative Shadow Covid Recovery Minister Darren Millar MS is today (June 10) urging the Labour-led government to ease travel restrictions and scrap its ‘arbitrary and cruel five-mile rule’.
He made his call after the petition – which can be found here – on the Welsh Parliament website garnered more than 10,000 signatures, a figure equivalent to a petition of 200,000 in England.
Mr Millar said:
“This petition provides clear evidence that the people of Wales want to see the Welsh Government's arbitrary and cruel five-mile rule and travel restrictions lifted.
“The Welsh Government must adopt a safe and sensible lifting of the lockdown that protects both lives and livelihoods, and reflects the importance of families and relationships.
“For the sake of people wanting to reunite with their loved ones and employers who want a fighting chance to save the jobs of their employees, we urge the Welsh Government to show some compassion, stop crippling our economy, and lift these restrictions immediately.”
