Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie has been announced as one of the ambassadors for the prestigious 2022 SheInspires Awards.
The SheInspires awards are a celebration of women from all areas of life and from all parts of the UK and the world.
Awards are presented in categories such as Women in Business, Volunteer of the Year, Team of the Year, Women in STEM and the HeforShe award, inspired by the recent United Nations HeforShe solidarity campaign presented to a remarkable man who has championed gender equality by standing up to cultural norms or challenging negative gender stereotype and behaviour.
As well as the awards themselves, the She Inspires organisation also help support and empower victims and survivors of domestic abuse via signposting and connecting women to police and government departments, charities, and support services in a one stop portal on their website.
From joining the Women and Equalities Committee in March 2020 and being a director of Women2Win as well as setting up “Make it Your Business” to inspire women on Anglesey into entrepreneurship, Virginia has been a long-standing supporter of empowering and encouraging women and equal opportunities. She was herself listed as one of 15 “Women to Watch” by The House magazine in its Women in Westminster 100.
“It’s just a huge honour that Virginia Crosbie MP has agreed to become an Ambassador for SheInspires”
says Gulnaz Brennan, the organisation’s founder.
“We’ve long since recognised the importance of getting more inspirational women in to positions of public prominence. They should be in far greater numbers in both local and central government, and on the boards of companies across the country. And we shouldn’t be talking about making up quotas, our incredible women should be leading those boards. That sounds like exactly the kind of challenge that Virginia loves!”
