Aviation and maritime minister Robert Courts has joined Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie on a whistlestop tour of Anglesey’s major companies and organisations.
The minister came to the island yesterday. He visited RAF Valley, Stena, Irish Ferries and he met the Holyhead Mayor Richard Parry.
He also went to Holyhead Towing Company and the new HMRC Inland Border Facility in Holyhead to talk about how work is progressing at the site before it opens in the New Year.
“I am really pleased the minister came to our island to meet with companies, local people, employees and organisations to listen to their thoughts and concerns and see for himself what a vibrant island we have here,” said Virginia.
“It is the fourth UK minister to come to the island this year and it again shows that we are very much in the thoughts of this Government as it levels up the country and invests in Anglesey through the HMRC facility and the Hydrogen Hub.
“It means more job opportunities for local people and much-needed investment.”
The minister added: “Touring Anglesey with Virginia has given me a really positive insight into the opportunities and challenges companies and organisations face on the island.
The ‘can do’ attitude was everywhere to be seen with considerable government investment on show at the HMRC Inland Border Facility in Holyhead and superb high-tech skills and innovation demonstrated at RAF Valley.
“I would like to thank Virginia for showing me around Ynys Môn. It is an island full of potential and with Virginia as its champion, the future is bright.”
