Yesterday, the Prime Minister made a statement updating MPs on Brexit.
Key facts: Our objective is to find a way to guarantee we cannot, and will not, be trapped in the backstop.
· We’re open to different ways to achieve this – but are clear that we need legally binding changes, and that can be achieved by changes to the Withdrawal Agreement.
· We need to find a solution that meets our unwavering commitment to avoid a hard border between Northern Ireland and Ireland.
· Both sides agreed last week to hold further talks to find a way through – which is important progress – and the Prime Minister will meet President Juncker again before the end of February to take stock of these discussions.
· MPs will debate progress in the Brexit negotiations tomorrow – and we will make a further statement and table a motion on 26 February for parliament to debate and vote on the next day, if a Meaningful Vote has not been passed.
